MIP step by step

Initial Consultation (½ hour)
We will ask you to complete a questionnaire (more detailed than the one on this website) in advance, to help you identify the symptoms and difficulties you or your child may be experiencing as well as problems to be overcome. We will also ask you or your child, to do a few simple physical tests to check that the treatment is right for the difficulties involved. To receive treatment, you need to be age 5 or over. If we feel the treatment is unlikely to be a success, we will tell you. If you wish to go ahead, we make an appointment for a full Diagnostic Assessment.

Diagnostic Assessment (2 hours)
During the Diagnostic Assessment we test over 65 reflexes in the body. There is no IQ or academic testing involved, just simple physical tests or games, a hearing test, a sample of writing and some drawing. The aim is to comprehensively test:

  • Balance and coordination
  • Eye movement
  • Short-term memory
  • Sequencing skills
  • Spatial awareness
  • Left/right dominance
  • Visual motor integration
  • Hearing

Report Reading (1 ½ hours)
The report is based on evidence collected at the Diagnostic Assessment. We explain and discuss the Assessment results in full with the adult or parents. Treatment begins immediately after the Report Reading. Detailed diagrams guide the parents or adult through each specific ‘brushing’ routine. Brushing is carried out at home, morning and evening by parents or partners and will normally take 5-10 minutes per session.

Progress Reviews (½ hour)
Follow-up visits take place every 4-6 weeks to check on progress and change the ‘brushing’ routine, or fine-tune the treatment accordingly. In the final stage, two checks are carried out, at 2 and 4 month intervals, to ensure there is no regression. The benefits remain for life.

NB An Initial Consultation, Diagnostic Assessment and Report Reading can be arranged in the same day for those living outside London and the south-east. Treatment normally starts within 7-10 days of an Assessment, or earlier if possible.
